Act on Acceptance (and submission!)

Thanks to a series of bilateral (UG/CAMBIN) and national agreements (UNL) with academic publishers, submitting authors affiliated with the UG and the UMCG can publish their articles open access in thousands of journals for free (100% discount) or with significant discounts on Article Processing Charges (APCs). All other costs are for the authors.

This CMB service Act On Acceptance makes it easier for authors to publish their articles open access (in particular hybrid and green) and to make use of these 'read and publish deals'  we have. In short:
The author sends the acceptance email to the CMB (actonacceptance@umcg.nl). By return,

  • the author receives information that states whether the article can be published open access free of charge or with a significant discount (called: 'deals'). If a discount is possible, the concomitant publisher's workflow will be included.
  • If such a deal does not exist, and the author decides not to pay for the open access costs, the CMB will  make the article open access available via (self-)archiving

In the box below you can find the publisher's workflow ('how does it work') and other details about the deals, including the article types that are covered by the deal. Addional information can be found on Openaccess.nl - the Dutch deals

Nota bene
  • To make use of the open access deals, first of all, follow the open access publishing guidelines. Second, follow the publishers work flow (box below).
  • The UG does not have an open access fund. Authors are responsible for covering the costs of open access publication in journals that are not part of these agreements.
