In 2023, 98% of UMCG peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings were open access - including gold (36%), hybrid (38%) and green (24%) open access. The share of open access publications remained stable from 2021. The significant increase in 2021 can largely be attributed to the implementation of the open access procedural rules (Taverne amendment), which have led to a significant growth in the share of green open access.
Because the share of gold and hybrid open access has remained stable, the rollout of the open access policy has proven to be durable.
The University of Groningen Library (UB) and the Medical Library (CMB) are responsible for implementing the regulations.
During the EAHIL 2024 conference in Riga, the results of the Medical Library and the University Library in achieving almost 100% open access will be presented.
