About the Film Archive

Around 2800 films, dating from as early as 1907, can be found in the archive. Most of these are 16mm, but there are 8mm and 35mm films as well. In addition, the archive has hundreds of cinematic devices such as cameras and projectors. There is also a great amount of literature available, amongst which the academic magazine for film and performing arts 'Versus' holds a central position. Furthermore, there is an elaborate and diverse collection of film posters. Moreover, the archive is available for viewing, consulting and analyzing its collection of films on one of the editing tables or in the projection room.

Research of the archival pieces by academic staff of Groningen and other universities is being facilitated by the trustee of the archive.
