Use this link to search for (printed) Groningen dissertations via SmartCat (approx. 14,000 hits).

Sorting search results:

Select how you want to sort the list of hits by clicking on Sort at the top left of the SmartCat screen. You can choose between:

• Best match
• Authors (A-Z)
• Date (Newest first)
• Date (Oldest first)
• Title (A-Z).

Narrow your search with the set of theses from 1614 to 2013:

• Narrow your search by entering another keyword after the code selDissGron, e.g. an author's name or a year.
• Material Type: In this set of theses, the material code is Thesis, dissertation.
• Publication Year: last 5/10/25 years or custom range: from - through.
• Language: e.g. Latin, Dutch, English, German or French.
• Author

Use this link to search for Groningen theses (digital version) from 2014 onwards. (approx. 7,000 hits).

You can adjust the search criteria on the left-hand side of the search screen. The current selection is Type: Thesis fully internal and Publication Year 2014-2025. You can click on and off these selections.

Please note: As soon as you add a keyword to the search bar, this will trigger a new search and the selection of Groningen theses from 2014 onwards will be deleted. 

Narrow your search with the set of theses from 2014 onwards:
You can only narrow your search by using the filter options in the left-hand menu:

• Type (type of publication, here Thesis fully internal selected),
• Language, Publication Year, Authors.
• Material Type: In this set of theses, the material code is Thesis, dissertation.
• Publication Year: 2014-2025.

Create a new search with Groningen theses:
You can also perform a new search for the title and author of a Groningen thesis. Type the name of the author and one or more words from the title of the thesis in the search bar on the left. Click on the magnifying glass button on the right.

To further narrow down your search, use the filter options in the left-hand menu:

• Type (type of publication (thesis fully internal or another type)
• Language
• Publication Year
• Most Relevant Authors.

Sort search results:

At the top of the results list, choose between Publication year (descending) or (ascending), Title or Type (Thesis entirely internal, or another type).
