Data from Pure on the Research portal

All publications, activities, press/media and other output that has been entered in Pure, and has the visiblity set to 'public' will be shown on the University of Groningen research portal.

All UMCG staff with at least one output entered into Pure should get a profile on the research database. If you don't have a profile page but you should have one, contact us at pure@umcg.nl

Content of the Research Portal

Next to just showing your research output on your profile, the research portal also offers some other features:

Network:

This will generate a world map with pins based on the organization of your co-authors. This map is based on research output of the past 5 years. But it can also show a visualization of all your co-authors.

(Alt)Metrics:

Next to research output the portal will show a couple of different metrics. These are:

  • Citations in Scopus
  • Downloads from Pure
  • Altmetric & PlumX*

* These show the amount of attention research output has gotten online, excluding the normal citations. Examples are, Tweets, media mentions, but also patents or policy documents.

In the future:  Fingerprinting

The Elsevier Fingerprint Engine mines the text of scientific documents – publication abstracts, funding announcements and awards, project summaries, patents, proposals/applications, and other sources – to create an index of weighted terms which defines the text, known as a Fingerprint visualization.
