Poor Things (DVD)

In a fictionalized Victorian England, a scientist has created a young woman from the body of a dead woman and the brain of a baby, observing her development in the isolation of his estate. The more the creature learns, the less content she is with her existence as a study subject. After discovering her sexuality, she emancipates herself from the patriarchal structures of her "God-Father," as well as those of her lover and other men. A thoroughly sex-positive retro science fiction film, it reflects on the human condition with pointed humor and clever poetry.
