EndNote 21 in Google Docs

With EndNote 21 also came support for Google Docs. But there are some steps to take before you can use EndNote in Google Docs.

  • Install EndNote 21
  • In EndNote 21, click “Sync configuration” and enable the synchronization. You might need to create an account for EndNote first.
  • Go to https://web.endnote.com/ and log in with your EndNote account after you have synchronized your library.
  • After logging in to web.endnote.com you are ready to add EndNote to Google Docs.

Adding EndNote to Google Docs

  • Open a Google Docs file
  • Click on Extensions > Addons >Get Addons
  • Search for “EndNote 21 Cite While You Write”. And install it.
  • It will ask you to add EndNote to your google account, accept, and continue.
  • You might need to close and re-open the Google Doc file before you can work with EndNote.
  • Go to Extensions > EndNote 21 Cite while you write > Open.
  • Log in with your EndNote account.
  • An EndNote panel will now open. Here you can select references and click “Insert Citation”.
  • Under the 3 dots in the top right corner, you can select another style or synchronize your EndNote library.
