The purpose of the institute is to provide systematic and generally accessible documentation concerning Dutch political parties. The emphasis lies on activities of parties outside the First and Second Chamber of Parliament, as parliamentary activities are documented by the Parliamentary Documentation Centre (PDC) at the University of Leiden. The collection of the DNPP contains items from the late nineteenth century, when the first Dutch political parties were established. However, the major part consists of documents produced after 1945.

Atria wants to connect women’s history and information on women and gender, with policy, topical matters and politics. Atria was established in 2012, after a merger between Aletta, institute for women’s history and E-Quality, Information centre for gender, family and diversity issues.

The NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies was founded more than sixty years ago as the center for the study and dissemination of knowledge of the history of the Netherlands (including the Dutch East Indies) during the Second World War. Recently, the Institute redefined the scope of its mission, broadening its research area to include the history of both world wars and the long-term effects on society.
